Train Your Boxer Consistently

By Shareen Aguilar

Bringing a boxer dog home for you and your kids to play with is a good way to improve better bonding among members of the family. But, bringing a dog home doesn't mean you can expect all benefits coming from a pet. You will have to learn how to handle your very own tantrums and whether your patience will reach its end, because, after all, owning and taking care of a pet dog is going to cause you more than just the benefits which you expect.

First off, it isn't easy to discipline a boxer dog. It is the cold truth that boxer dogs could become a headache at times, but the brighter side of owning one is that they are really great companions and guards. If you have just brought your boxer dog from the pet shop or from a breeder, don't think that keeping it isn't a good idea. On the contrary, it is. You just need to think on the brighter side of things.

Like many other dogs, the boxer dog does changes its behavior. That is why, it is advisable to stick to the rules you have imposed on your pet from day one. Your boxer dog needs to realize that you mean what you say; and the intelligent breed that they are, your pet will understand what you want for him to follow.

It may be difficult at first, to train a dog. But once you have established that mutual understanding between you and your pet, you will realize that it is worthwhile that you have spent your days trying to keep your patience at all times.

Proper training comes with being firm. But this doesn't mean you will need to pull the leash. This will only cause for your dog to fear you, not obey you. Also, discipline has to come from all angles. This includes playtime with your pet. When you want something for him to do, apply consistency and if he thinks that you are still playing around, say the command again and walk out. Only return when your pet has truly stopped playing around.

Despite the way you discipline your boxer dog, be sure that you are still there for him to understand and play with. Boxer dogs are great pets since they have an uncanny way of connecting with people; especially their masters.
